Someone sent this to me and I found it very funny. I can laugh even harder now that it is warmer. I especially like the 25 below and the 500 below zero comments.
I finally got my wall quilt done! It now just needs to be hung which will be my husband's job. I did not make this task an easy (or very safe) one for him either. I want it to hang on the wall as you are coming up the stairs. The rod I picked out for it (which does not show in the picture very well), has leaves on both ends! I was very excited to get it finished. The colors of this match my living room furniture (specially throw pillows). I now have all the material cut for my next project. I could use some help! Wish HS was here to assist! In relooking at this picture, I believe I need to have my husband retake it -- it appears I fell asleep while holding it!
To all of my family and friends--hope you all have a joyous and prosperous 2009!
I was recently watching the DVD I received for Christmas (Mamma Mia) and actually sat and watched the credits scroll down and noticed my name! The art director for the film! I believe it is a must see movie! They had to have had a lot of fun making that. My daughter kept saying during the movie--"another song." Of course, the same never occurred to her watching High School Musical. Hope everyone had a great holiday. We were out of town and were fortunate enough to have decent weather most of the time. One day while we were gone, Des Moines actually reached 54 degrees! Of course, the next day, we woke to freezing drizzle and had a 1/4 inch of ice everywhere! The day we left, there was flooding in the area as well. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
I'm only blogging because a friend has a list of who has blogged the most recent, and I want to be on top. Even if it will only be for a few minutes! Been a very busy week, and it is only Tuesday. We are preparing to leave the area for the holidays so today was taking the cat to the kennel, making sure someone has our keys, checking out in housing to get our favorite red bulb, and start the dreaded packing chore! I also had to run to Larimore to pick up senior proofs and wanted to make sugar and gingerbread cookies so the kids could decorate them at my sister's house. There is still packing to do, but the cookies are all baked! While away, I hope to hit Archiver's and maybe a quilting store. Need to start to my next project and I'm looking for some specific material, maybe I'll get lucky there. Not much else to add---hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I was informed that someone had a new camera and put it on their blog so I figured I'd better put mine out there too! I just purchased mine yesterday so it was not a Black Friday deal, but a deal none the less! I guess this would satisfy my birthday, anniversary and Christmas all in one! I even have sat down and read most of the user manual. I received 2 user DVDs too, but have not watched them yet. Will get to try it out at an orchestra concert this Thursday. Those pictures in that school gym always came out dark, shouldn't be much of a problem now. Hopefully, I'll be able to see my daughter--she informed me that she is in the back row for this concert! Do you like the staging? Extra fleece material, snack canister, and a dining room chair. My middle child gets the simple digital point and shoot camera.
JPV and I went out on Halloween evening and went to a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The evening first started out at the club on base--which was a hoot! Seeing our fierce leaders in costume and having a great time was very enjoyable! We then headed downtown. We were "dressed up" and had arrived early so why not go drinking. We were headed to a particular bar when we came across another with a line to get in. We figured that one may be better! It was fun to people watch. Almost everyone was in some kind of costume. All I did to dress up was color my hair and wear a sparkly hat. She was dressed as Columbia with Mickey Ears and men's pjs! It was a great evening! Hope we are both here to do it again next year.
Well, at least I'm trying a new hobby. This hobby will more than likely not go on for very long. But I made my first quilt block yesterday! It's not perfect, but. . . I am taking a class downtown on Monday afternoons and will be completing a wall sample quilt. I have picked the colors to go with my living room set so it has browns and burgundy and leaf patterns.
We went back to Wisconsin for 2 weeks before school started so August was pretty quiet for us. While we were gone (visiting family and some friends) Amber got stung by a wasp our first night right on the ankle bone-ouch!! Oh, yeah, I suppose the most eventful thing that happened was our emergency room trip! Tony passed a kidney stone while we were out of town! This one was quick. His pain started around 4 in the afternoon and we were headed to town by 5:30. The ones in the past have been drawn out for days it seemed like but this one was very quick and actually was able to submit one for testing this time. Haven't heard the results on it yet. I was very surprised when we went to get the drugs at Walgreens that they said, no charge! I thought for sure we would need to submit paperwork or something like that, but all went really smooth!
The kids are all back in school now. We have a senior--I can't believe it! A freshman and our 4th grader! Tony started his class today and won't be coming home for lunch any more so the house is quiet from 8 to 3:30 every week day, except for the loud music I play (kidding). Should be working on scrapbooking or stamping, but haven't gotten in the mood yet. I also have a new project and I need to get cracking on that to meet my deadline of March--12 cross stitch blocks for a quilt! I'm taking a quilting class beginning in mid-Sept. I have had this magazine since 1988 (yes 20 years) with the intent that if I ever had a girl, I would want to make this for her. Each block is a cross stitched picture on gingham fabric of a girl who is dressed for each month. The magazine, of course, contains all the instructions and layouts for each month. For instance, June is a bride, November is a pilgrim. I hope to complete it by her 10th birthday, it may end up being just the pillow and giving her the quilt for Christmas 2009, but at least she will still be 10! I read the instructions this weekend and I think I actually understand them! I hope my sewing machine works for this!
That's about it from our household. Till next time, hopefully sooner than 2 months!
